Professional Conduct

As a professional coach I agree to:
  1. Practise within the scope of my training;
  2. Be a positive reflection of the coaching industry in all my interactions with clients, colleagues and the public;
  3. Always be honest in my word, both written and spoken, and never knowingly make any written or spoken false statements in relation to the coaching profession;
  4. Accurately, confidentially and lawfully create, maintain, store and dispose of any coaching records;
  5. Use CoachNetwork member information only in the manner and to the extent authorized by CoachNetwork;
  6. Respect varying professional approaches;
  7. Claim only my original contributions as my own and give recognition to the contribution of others' work;
  8. Recognize and manage any personal issues that may interfere with my ability to coach effectively;
  9. Continue to update my professional skills, for example by attending professional development workshops and seminars.

Conduct with Clients

As a professional coach I agree to:
  1. Set clear and appropriate boundaries regarding physical contact with my clients;
  2. Not become sexually involved with any of my clients;
  3. Honour all agreements with my clients;
  4. Ensure that at each initial session every client is aware of the scope of my practice, financial agreements and other terms of our coaching agreement;
  5. Not intentionally mislead nor make false claims about coaching my clients in any way;
  6. Allow my clients to terminate coaching at any point if they so choose;
  7. Refer my clients to other suitable coaches or allied professionals when deemed appropriate or necessary;
  8. Notify appropriate persons if client discloses a danger to self or others.

Confidentiality

As a professional coach I agree to:
  1. Keep all records, conversations and information in relations to my clients confidential, unless otherwise agreed to by the client or authorized by law;
  2. Obtain agreement from my clients before releasing any of their information to any third party.

Conflicts of Interest

As a professional coach I agree to:
  1. Disclose in a timely fashion any conflicts of interest with my clients and discuss how to resolve them;
  2. Disclose any third party compensations for referrals to my clients;
  3. Barter for other remuneration only if it will not impair the coaching relationship.

The CoachNetwork Coach Declaration

As a professional coach I agree to honour my ethical obligations to my clients, colleagues and the public. I agree to comply with the CoachNetwork Code of Conduct and to model these standards in all aspects of my professional conduct. I agree that if I breach these agreements then CoachNetwork will hold me accountable and may terminate my agreement with CoachNetwork.
